Bharatanatyam: Dance Through Time
A dance project for Harrow primary schools tracing the development of classical Indian dance in the UK
Bharatanatyam—Dance Through Time is a dance project that seeks to study the evolution of Indian dance culture in the UK. Led by young volunteers from Srishti Yuva Culture, Srishti’s youth dance company, the project will examine the heritage of Bharatanatyam dance and Karnatic music through practical dance workshops and discussion.
Bharatanatyam—Dance Through Time will provide young people in Harrow with an opportunity to learn about, interact with and create South Asian dance and music, in an environment created by other young people.
An exhibition documenting participants' work will be held at Harrow Arts centre in November/December 2010.
