Friendship and Belonging
In 2009, Srishti received funding from Awards for All to undertake a series of workshops reflecting on themes covered in the Key Stage 3 Citizenship curriculum.
Inspired by initiatives to prevent violent extremism, and based on the touring performances My Stamping Ground and Love is in the Air, the workshops use South Asian dance, music and drama to discuss `Friendship and Belonging' with Year 7/8 pupils as part of the Citizenship and PSHE curriculum areas.
The workshops include dance, music, drama and are designed to allow pupils to use their own creativity to explore sensitive and relevant subjects through the creative arts, allowing discussion in a safe and supportive environment.
The workshops were delivered to KS3 students in London schools during the Autumn of 2009. Following the Awards for All funded delivery, Friendship and Belonging is now available as a package for schools UK-wide.
