SRISHTI Pathways is our new initiative for aspiring UK-based classical Indian dancers looking to build a future career in dance. This project will provide new apprentice dancers pathways into creative careers. They will learn new choreography, gain relevant work experience and tour to 8 venues nationwide through 2023-24.
4 apprentice dancers and 2 understudies will learn two of Srishti’s existing works choreographed by Nina Rajarani MBE, Srishti’s Artistic Director, and will have a new work created for them by Mavin Khoo, currently Akram Khan’s Creative Associate.
The formation of Srishti Pathways is Srishti’s response to the needs of the sector to provide a bridge between studentship and professional performance and to nurture the next generation of South Asian dancers.
The chosen dancers have sound training to an advanced level in Bharatanatyam and are serious about pursuing dance in the future. They have committed to this year-long programme (part time basis) and besides performance opportunities the apprentice dancers are receiving training in delivering outreach workshops for young and elderly people.
