On Sunday 3 July, Harrow’s leading performing arts school, Srishti – Nina Rajarani Dance School, will be holding its summer showcase at Harrow Arts Centre.

The show will feature over seventy Srishti Dance School students, ranging from age 5 to 50. They will be performing Indian classical dance styles Bharatanatyam and Kathak to live music, as well as Karnatik vocal music performances.

Now in its 32nd year, Srishti Dance School is spearheaded by award-winning dancer, choreographer and teacher Nina Rajarani MBE. It runs weekly classes in Indian classical performing arts at Harrow Arts Centre attracting students from across the Borough and further afield. Those who have been training with the school online will also be making a journey from all over the UK to perform at this showcase. Dance students get the opportunity to take the gold standard Imperial Society of Teachers in Dancing (ISTD) grade examinations, where Nina Rajarani is a founder committee member of the Classical Indian Dance Faculty.

“The summer show case isn’t just a feast for the senses showcasing all the richness of Indian performing arts, it is also a great opportunity to celebrate our students and the local community where we have been rooted for over 30 years.”

“I have been performing Bharatanatyam in the summer shows for over 5 years. It has been a wonderful learning experience which takes determination, dedication and hard work from all the students and teachers alike. I have learnt many new skills which will be helpful to me later in life, such as teamwork, good organisation and timekeeping to name but a few. Along the way, it has helped build my confidence and it is really fun and enjoyable to perform with my classmates. “

The Srishti organisation’s professional performing company, Srishti Dance Creations, recently premiered their new outdoor show at the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations in Harrow & Ealing, following which they have launched a national tour starting with Birmingham International Dance Festival. They will be making a special appearance at this performance.
